Basque Art Database ARTEDER is an open, ongoing project that seeks to gather systematic information about the Basque art world from roughly the last third of the 19th century to the present day. The initiative is linked to the objectives the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum is pursuing in its bid to promote research into and awareness of artistic creation in its milieu.

Supported and directed by the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum Library, with stimulus and encouragement from the Vizcaína Aguirre Foundation, the project has established itself as a major Museum information and reference resource.

ARTEDER. The Basque Art Database is designed to satisfy demand for information from specialists, scholars and researchers in Basque art and from members of the general public interested in the subject. Arteder currently offers a major set of data concerning both the leading figures of Basque art and many lesser-known names largely ignored in the historiography.

Contents are published monthly, as documentary analysis of registers is completed. Given the very nature of the database, the information is constantly under revision and updated..
